I use this one for my polyphonics. They also do MP3 ringtones (daughter has tried and worked) but they work out a bit more expensive to download to the phone. You can download them to PC and link to phone if you've got one of the cable thingies.

what are the best sites out there now for genuinely free ringtones etc.?

don't want to be subscribed to anything or get spam texts at £1.50 a time or anything nasty!!

The best sites are one that provide you with a short mp3 or some other format that you can upload to your phone. The easiest way is with a USB cable that you get with most modern phones...
The ones I use are
www.fonefunshop.co.uk - need to register to actually download but you can view without to check it out.
http://groups.msn.com/MP3-MUSIC-FINDER-2006 - again need to sign up to the groups but a lot of songs on here...

I second this one, its a brilliant forum. They have a 3GP forum too for videos.

I use http://www.motomail.co.uk/ very easy gives you a wap address to pick up your ringtone so you only pay for use of wap which with my cotract I get so much free anyway you do need to register to search but if I remember right not with your phone number just your email.
