defaults and credit reports - help please
Options
Hi
I'm sorry if I've added this thread to the wrong place - I've done a keyword search to see if I can find the answer elsewhere, but I've not been successful.
I just need some advice please...
Last week my partner received two letters from two different companies regarding two very old debts. We've checked his Experian credit report and there is no mention of these debts on there.
He did have them, and a few years ago we went through the process of asking them for the credit agreements etc and as far as we believed, the debts were over 6 / 7 years old so were statute barred.
I'm not sure if the comanies have a right to claim this money back, or if they are being persistent or just didn't think that we'd come on here and ask others for help!
Please can you advise me on this....
Thanks in advance

Have you actually sent letters saying that you consider the debts are statute barred and do not intend to pay them? If not then they are entitled to continue to chase him. Once these letters are sent they should stop all collection activity.
