I wanna return a dvd to a shop when bought online

I accidentally ordered 2 copies of battlestar galactica the final season online as the one from bangcd didn't show up when i went to "your account" so I ordered another one from WH Smith online. yes you've guessed it they both turned up. I don't want to return the bang cd one as it will cost a lot ih restocking but do you think I could take the smith's one back to a high street store and pretend it's a unwanted gift and maybe get a credit note? It says it can't be returned to wh smiths stores but is there anywhere which readily gives credit notes for things they stock ie HMV or asda. thaniks for any help.

well I suppose so - but I prefer to think of it as helping them with their stocking levels and i can choose something else so I'm just swapping it. thanks for pointing that out though0

Can you ring customer services ask them if they do returns by post? I know Ive sent things back off Amazon before that were not right - cant recall if I had to pay return postage, dont think so.
I did take a sealed dvd box set back to WHS today without a receipt or any stickers on (knew it was from a different WHS store - had been brought it for Christmas but had got it last year) Anyway I asked the SA if there was any chance of a credit note or an exchange and she scanned it and said I could do an exchange there and now but not a credit note, so I got 4 books I was after for the £22.99
I did say I had not got proof it was brought there or a receipt but she was really nice and said it was fine as it came up on the barcode reader.
I dont think you could take it elsewhere but you could ask in a WHS store what their policy is but might be best to see about returning it to the online store?Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.
