A lot of Tesco are open on New Years Day so I don't think they will do any extra reductions.

All supermarkets reduce dependent on their size, location, clientele, closing time, ageing stock and availability of staff to wield the reductions gun.

There can be no "time", especially one "time" for all supermarkets across the whole country.

Tesco superstores have set times that reductions are meant to be done by and the managers are targeted for getting them done. I can not remember the times off top of my head though.

At Tesco, we find that this is still often dependant on available staff to action the markdowns though, especially over Christmas/NY when they are busy. I'm afraid some loitering is needed if you are intent on a last minute reduction.

M&S aren't that great for reductions as most of the on date stock seems to be sold to staff for pennies.

It's always worth asking the staff if they're willing to reduce something that would usually be reduced but hasn't been yet, they've done this in Waitrose for me before.
