hi all,
brought one of these at the weekend and being a complete pc novice I thought I would just plug it in , connect to pc and away we go. But I cannot get the harddrive to show anywhere on my computer, no icon or anything but when I go to safely remove hardware option it says it is working properly. Any advice greatly received. I have windows vista.0 -

All truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Then, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.0 -

Try 'Right' clicking on 'My Computer' then 'Manage' in 'Disk Management' see if you have a new disk in there of around 500GB. If so you should be able to 'Right click' the disk and 'Initialise' it...

Hi Colin,
Thanks for taking the time to reply. Followed your instructions and initialised it, but still can't seem to open it. Any further pearls of wisdom greatly appreciated.

Next step is to assign it a letter in 'Computer Management' - ('Right' Click the Drive then 'Assign Drive Letter') - then it probably needs a Quick format.. again 'right' click the drive and press 'format' (make sure you have the correct disk highlighted!!) - hopefully then it will appear in My Computer!0 -
