When a pint isn't a pint?!

Cheers, I'm 40 and have been single all my life despite my best efforts (met 100+ lunatics on Match.com and I keep meaning to start a thread on that!!), my mum's just told me she has cancer this xmas, and I've had a !!!!! year so shut up.
I'm sure you'd be annoyed if your local charged you £3.95 for a 12% less than a pint.Or maybe you're rich and don't care, in which case - woo!
Idiot.
Good retort and nothing wrong in being single, you get to spend all your money on yourselfAlways ask ACAS0 -
Think positive - If you go anywhere in Bournemouth after dark you have to drink out of a plastic pot.
Only to stop people getting glassed, which mostly happened at Walkaboutgot an issue with it take it up with them!
Have to say it's much easier to spill in the plastic glasses, last time i went out i was given one that was like a yogurt pot, grip too tight, drink goes all over the carpet
I'd speak to trading standards. If you try being friendly with them, a barmaid might save one of the bigger ones for youMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

I love the Bacchus Bar my favourite place in Birmingham Centre. Never tried that beer so when I go in there sometime this week I will give it a go, if I get the smaller glass I shall politely make the argument that it not the pint I requested.0

if thats the only thing you have to moan about then your doing well.
Do you also moan when you get a larger head than normal on your beer?
or when the skin on your spuds are thicker than normal?
Grammar check, please.0 -
Yes it is still law that beer must be sold in imperial measures, however technically if you had a lager top or lager and lime that should be sold in the metric equivalent:beer:
Why not just ask for a normal pint glass? the 'curvy' ones are only a marketing conIMOJACAR

The sale of alcohol is governed by a number of legal requirements, and yes, if the head is too large, the premises can also be prosecuted for selling short measures.
Potatoes are only goverened by these legal requirements when they've been distilled into what our irish cousins lovingly refer to as 'poitin' (po-cheen)
I read of one person who was trying to hold an ad-hoc wine-tasting found he couldn't because he discovered that he was forced to serve only measures of 125ml or 175ml, and not the mouthful-sized cups he'd planned. Such are the laws regarding the sale of alcohol.0 -
I will name and shame now as I am bloody sick of it.
Bacchus Bar in Birmingham. Great place, fab decor, very quiet, but they have this one annoying rip-off going on that I've just had enough of (having suffered it today, and noticed it before a few times, and got into a big argument about it this evening).
One of my favourite bars, too!
As I recall, they have a little sign up saying they'll be happy to top up your drink if the head is on the large side. Maybe you should drink enough to make up the difference and then ask for a top up? Or pay them 12% less than they're asking for a pint?
It's not right, though - they need to comply with the relevant regulations. As mentioned above - have a word with Trading Standards..?0 -
I shall have to check this out next time I'm there. I love Bacchus but haven't been particularly impressed with them either in the past. First time I went there was for my 20th birthday. I was unaware of the age 21 policy but my OH had told me to dress nice, so I had a lovely meal and an admittedly expensive drink. All was good and I had a new favourite place.
I was still unaware of the 21 policy when I went back there in my jeans the very next day and the staff were really rude when turfing me out. I imagine the policy is there to keep rowdy teenagers out but this was lunchtime and I was only having a quiet drink with my OH. The least they could have done is used a bit more tact as everyone in there was aware of what was going on and OH griped at me the whole way home that I was preventing him going to nice places
I went back the very second I was 21 and no one's IDed me since. Typical.
Hope you get this sorted as I still think some of the staff are a bit rude and stand-offish, which really isn't on when you're paying those prices.0 -
