This is the first year I have really managed to make regular payments towards my debts. I have also had the confidence to negotiate settlements that were affordable to me and reduced my creditors from a huge number (34) down to 17 by snowballing the smallest ones first to get rid of them and this has seemed to work well for me.

    Total outstanding debt 1 Jan 2009 - £30,986.56
    Total outstanding debt 31 Dec 2009 - £25,016.94

    Total paid off - £5,969.62

    CURRENT TOTAL £583,227.48
  • £1100 on mortgage overpayments to mortgage. Have been debt free for last 2 years, and even though I use the cc each month I do pay off the bill, my aim this year is to reduce the amount spent on the cc monthly as this have slipped a bit and more often than not the monthly bill is way too big.

Well done everyone - the total now stands at £584327.48:j:j:j

After a dedicated 8 months of debt busting and an unexpected inheritance I became debt free in September after paying off £18,500. So the running total is £626,828.29
