Would you eat it - advise needed please.

Hello, hope everyone is enjoying Christmas. I have a dilema and wondered if anyone had any words of advise.

My family and I have been invited to a freinds for dinner over New Year. The person involved has bought a large joint of beef and had frozen it. But then took it out of freezer, travelled about 6 hours with it then put it back in the freezer.

Do you think it would be ok to eat after being I would think partially defrosted then frozen again. Also they tend to cook things quite pink if you know what I mean.

It's very awkward as I am very unsure about eating the meat and also for my children to eat it, could do without starting 2010 with food poisoning!.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks
L

It'll be fine, if it was pork or poultry I'd run a mile but red meat is much less likely to be contaminated by such treatment.

Together we can make a difference.
  • A large joint of meat is unlikely to defrost mch in 6 hours in the freezing temperatures we are currently having.

i am always very careful with turkey/chicken probably too cautious, but i think with red meat anything goes really - if you think how rare some people have it in restaurants and god knows how it is stored there, you will be fine.

  • Thank you so much for your super quick replies. I tend to over cook everything and n ot freeze anything twice so was a little worried.

    Thank you again.

    Happy New Year
