Son got the Xbox last year, this year he got a couple of games from one of his GP's. During the heavy snow and winds, we had a series of power cuts, and since then it hasn't worked.
He was playing with it prior to the power cuts, and it hasn't worked since, I wondered if an internal fuse could've blown? Not that I'd know how to fix it if it had!
Anyhoo, when we insert a disc, it says 'reading', followed by 'open tray'. We've tried various discs, all to no avail. The green light is still green.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

Thanks Dave. I had tried some of those steps, and I'd checked the microsoft website, but didn't come across that. I'll try the removal of the hard drive etc., and keep my fingers crossed.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. This happened with my son's Xbox 360. His one was almost 2 years old and as it wasn't the red ring of death it wasn't covered by the extended 3 yr warranty. We paid £80 to Microsoft to get it fixed (and picked up from the house). He got one back 5 days later with a letter saying they had replaced it and not repaired it. He got a brand new machine with another 1 years warranty.0

Sounds good to me. I'll try the tips, and go for the repair if it doesn't work. Thanks Jackie.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
