Cashier so sales assistant I guess, vacancy is for 20 hours

Not sure if worth applying for cos I'm doing 18 hours, NMW, with lots of extra hours on top when required and boss wants me to be supervisor in 8-9 years when she semi-retires. I do actually like my job most of the time but current supervisor gets treat like horse manure (ie, she is ill at the moment, had a week off and was forced to take it as holiday cos boss too tight to pay her sick pay). I just dont know if it worth staying there sometimes

Of course, the ultimate choice is yours, but 8-9 years is a long time to wait for a better position!

With some luck, hard work and determination, you can climb the retail ladder much faster than that. Shop work is never a bed of roses, but as I said, waiting 8-9 years to progress takes the biscuit a little.

If they really want you to be a supervisor one day, why not ask your current boss if you can take on a little extra responsibility from time to time? Nothing major, just a few errands and a bit of training. If they refuse, I'd assume their promises are empty.

If they agree, you'll be better equipped to move into a more senior retail position in the near future - none of this 8-9 years lark.

If you're made of the right stuff, management/supervisory roles in retail are fairly easy to obtain - especially in environments where there is a lot of sickness/absence, and the staff turnover is pretty high.
    £1 / 50p 2011 holiday flight + hotel expenses = £98.50600

HSBC 8% 12mth regular savings = £80 out of a maximum remaining allowance of £2500

    "3 months' salary" reserve = £00 / £3600
