old mortgage still going!

my ex husband and me bought a house about 20yrs ago for £39.000 but the roof needed fixing and we couldent afford our mortage and went into rented accomodation. We then gave back the keys to homeloans selling it for the same price £39.000 but they fiddled us and sold it for half then said we still ow them £15.000. we saw a solicitor and they said they could not do that to us. But it has now been almost 20 years and they are still ringing me and sending me letters with threats about coming round my house etc but nothing has ever been done. then they recently said ok we will accept £2.000. Now i have had another call saying if i dont pay they will send a man around (again). hey never do anything they say because the solicitor said they cant. Can i have them for harassment, and take them to court?
