Quite pleased with myself as well!

Well guys....I'm quite pleased with myself as well (and well done to Sugar Jen too)
After my rant yesterday of having enough and desperately needing to short my shopping out/meals out I think I am on the long road to recovery.
Mother in Law was looking after the kiddies yesterday at home while I was at work. She left some whole milk behind which needed to be used up. Now usually, it probably would have lain in the fridge until I noticed it was still there and then binned - such a waste. But I remembered that I had seen something on this thread yesterday about a potato bake or something using whole milk.....
so, I got out my dish...sliced some potato which i found languishing (and again would have been binned this weekend probably) and layered this with grated half fat cheese that was about to be chucked and slices of onion. Poured over the whole milk and bunged in the oven and left.
Now...it wasn't the best I've ever made. But when I say my husband gave it 9 out of 10 ('use cheddar next time babes' was his response) and scoffed the lot....I was pretty pleased.
And I made it using stuff that was lying around....and that probably would have just gone old and been chucked.
I'm well pleased.
Discovered a jar of red thai paste in my cupboard. Going to attempt to do something with that at the weekend. Anyone have any good recipes?
Thanks!
Weegie
