    Welcome to MSE.
We really need more prats like yourself making inane comments without making any effort to assist questioners.
  • Right, useful comments like accusing people its their fault for putting the waste out when it doesnt get collected and assuming its a bad service due to xmas holidays, when it happens all year round, and calling people prats when they have a complaint of bad service, whatever, its obviously just a opportunity for people like you to just go on a power trip, saddo, bye!

Does it? Evidence please. Local councils produce stats of hitting targets and of complaints - I am assuming yours are much higher than average?

OP if you have a problem with a particular service like refuse collection then you need to complain. You cannot withhold your council tax unless you want to go to prison.

Firstly complain via telephone or via the council's online web form that the block's rubbish hasn't been collected and get a reference number. Keep it and all details of your complaint in a diary.

The next time it happens complain again and this time contact the Head of the department for Refuse Collection/Waste Management/Environmental Services in writing with information about both complaints. Then also write a short letter to your local news paper. If the letter is long they won't publish it.

This is normally enough to stop it happening again as other people will contact the local paper and contact the Head of Waste Management (or whatever they are called). However if not the third time it happens contact your local newspaper first and ask them if they can send a photographer over. Or get someone to take a picture of you in front of the rubbish and send it to them.

There will not be a fourth time. ;)
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p
