Advice. Gift card invalid

I recently won £1000 gift card for FCUK, and spent some of the total last week, with the intention of spending the rest today in Westfields and Oxford Street, so having made the journey to London and having no problem using them in Westfields, we travelled up to Oxford street (as Westfields was a bit short on kids clothes), spent an hour selecting items for my daughter, only to find the card was rejected as invalid, now apart from the inconvenience and expense of travelling to London, it was embarrassing to be told the gift card was rejected, would i seem ungrateful, or greedy by asking for some sort of compensation for the time and expense incurred, considering it was a prize (from competition time here)
Thankyou Sir Alex for 26 years

You really need to phone Westfields and ask for a balance on the card. Its worth also checking that the card was not just a use-it-once card. Once you have a balance reading then ask them why it was invalid when you went to use it. You won the money fair and square (I assume) so you have every right to spend it all. Good luck0

We were given a balance after shopping in Westfields, and even showed this to the manager in Oxford Street, all he said was to call head office tuesday when it reopens, and the card was valid for a year.Thankyou Sir Alex for 26 years0 -
keep on it!
it seems like their mistake so you should be compensated.
