Could someone please tell me what size chain I need for charm bracelets plus the size of the toggles. or even complete bracelets, I want to have a go at making some with beads on headpins. If I use 3 beads do I need 8mm 6mm and 4mm, sorry to be a pain. Thanks

Hi I need some advice. My daughter is getting married at the end of this year and I really want to raise some money towards the big day. I currently don't work due to ill health so I am looking to have a huge clear out and sell whatever we no longer need, don't worry DH is safe he won't be on ebay. I have lots of focal beads and have decided to make some memory wire bracelets to sell. As I have most of the materials I don't have much out lay. What would be a fair price and where would be the best place to sell. I know this won't be a huge ammount but her wedding will be like our other childrens, all hands on deck, and we had amazing days with each of their weddings. If I could make £200 with selling unwanted plus bracelets I will be pleased as this will pay for fabric for bridesmaids dresses etc which I am making. They are saving like mad and don't expect a fancy day but I do want it nice for them both.
What do you think the price of a mmemory wire bracelet should sell at, approx 10 focal beads plus lots of other beads to embellish it

Sethsgran - that's a lovely idea. I don't sell my stuff (yet) but I would have a look on Folksy or Etsy to see what sort of price stuff is selling for. It will be a good starting point. You could also look at selling on Etsy or Folksy or how about selling at a local craft fair or church sale - maybe have a look at your local council website for upcoming events that you can look into.

Hi, I made a cupcake charm bracelet (its on my blog) my chain was 7 inches and worked out at around 7 1/2 using a toggle clasp. Id say its a ideal size for a teen /adult wrist.
Im waiting for more chain to come from Sanctuary Beads and will probably stick to 7 inches. Im not sure what size the toggle is as it came with this chain, I only ordered lobster clasps for my next ones, id say its medium though.
I also bought 8mm headpins and I managed to put 4 beads on it. Im sure someone else who has made more can give you more help on the headpins I just picked them thinking I can trim them to size but can add more to it iykwim?

Thankyou Nic. I have bought 1 1/2 inch headpins so I can trim them. The chain size I wanted was the size of the links, sorry I made it sound clear as mud!! I bought a bracelet ready made with the toggle and the links were huge, more like a mans heavy chain, so I bought some more and its more like childrens or necklace size :( can't win, maybe I'm just thick!! lol
  • i got my stuff i ordered off ebay today and im not happy with any of it, lilac crackle beads were that crackled most are broke in half, alphabet beads are too small, chain to small, and headpins are bent, i cant win either lol

Hi sorry I wasn't much help last night, I was tired from work!
Right don't know if it will be much help but I bought these head pins http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270568979572 & like nic2075 said you can get a couple of beads on depending on the sizes & trim the excess off. I ordered some chain to find it was too small for braclets so a bit like you :) so yesterday I ordered this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190393145079&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT hoping it would be a little bigger for charm bracelets, the sizes surgests it would be! I'll let you know what its like when it arrives.

Like nic2075 my charm bracelets are aprox 7.5" long in all with t-bar fastening :) Hope some of this will help you, I'm still trying to get my head around sizes too...we can learn together :rotfl::rotfl:

Sorry to hear you've had a bad order :( have you got in touch with them about the broken beads? I'm sure they'd exchange them? I too got the head pins bent but have found I'm able to straigten them out to use....did you order the same chain as me? I' thinking thats going to be used on bag chams, earrings & necklaces don't think it would take the weight of a cluster bracelet like I made this week :rotfl:

Hope everyone is well today :) Yeah still can't get over that I won your blog giveaway Kandipandi :D Thankyou again :j

I'm sorry I am not much help either, I hardly use ebay and have bought most of my stuff in person either at craft fairs or shops, I tend to stock up then when I can actually see what I am paying for.

Crafty - I'm off to post your gift out this lunchtime :D
