Claiming dental fees back.

I just found out a few days ago that I'm pregnant. Last week I went to the dentist for a checkup. I think it was just over £15. NHS dentist.
I wondered if I could claim it back since I should have got it free since I am pregnant.
If anyone could tell me what I should do that would be great, thanks.
Also, if anyone knows why he kept saying zero, zero, zero when he was looking in my mouth that would help.:o I've not noticed them saying anything like that before.

I'd phone the dentist and ask if you can claim it back. But I wouldn't hold your breath ... If you needed any follow up then that should be free.Signature removed for peace of mind0

The 'zero' bit might well have been a BPE score.
Simply put this is a scale of 0-4 where low numbers are best.
BPE stands for 'Basic Periodontal Examination' and is an index of gum health. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Thanks. I might as well see if I can get a receipt to post with my prescription receipt for my hayfever stuff. The chemist thought I should get that back. Fingers crossed. I spend a lot on medication because of my asthma.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

I couldn't find my receipt and decided to write it off. Then I got an invoice through the post today and realised that I'd gone to the desk to pay and she said she'd send me the bill.
I phoned up to ask what I should do (ie pay them and claim it back?) and she said she'd deal with it and I didn't have to pay.
God bless the NHS! (When you can find it.) DH is having a tooth out on Friday at the same place. (we'll be paying for that one!)May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
IIRC You need the MAT B1 as proof of pregnancy before you can claim free dental treatment and this is only issued at 20 weeks prior to the estimated due date.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

The matb1 form is not to claim dental monies back , you need the nhs perscription charge certificate card which should get sent when you have completed the perscription exemption certificate which is given to you on your ist visit to the docs/midwives, this is valid for upto a year after your baby is due . ( ie my baby was due 11th dec 05 my cert expires 10th dec 06 )
This covers you for you for all free perscriptions etc . Mine is in a form of a plastic credit card .
PS MY WIFES DICTATING THIS AND I HAVENT OR IT IS POSSIBLY FOR ME TO HAVE ABABY LOL !0
