Yes JackieO. I too have had exploding boiled eggs! Did you ever make a full Sunday dinner with all the trimmings and just eat the trimmings because the meat was still raw but brown round the edges? Was new husband impressed? I think not.0

It has NEVER bothered me whether my husband was impressed with my household and cooking skills or not!
I have always told him that he knows where his mother lives!
But this shocked my Nan(s) when I told them! Different generations I suppose!0 -

Luckily for both of us my cooking improved, although after meeting my ma-in-law for the first time 11 years after our marriage, I found out why my husband loved tinned peas.:rotfl: Evidently she force-fed him and his brother greens as a child, which meant he hated them forever more. Every Christmas she would grumble to me that
"He always ate fresh vegatables when he was little " As though it was my influence that made him enjoy processed peas.
He was a country raised boy, and I was that 'Odd cockney woman from London' I think she thought I raised my kids on jellied eels and fish & chips .:rotfl:
I eat virtually anything at all, but once he was grown up my husband didn't have to eat his Ma's veggies anymore . I swear she put the brussel sprouts on to cook on Christmas Eve:rotfl:0 -
I turned some chicken blue once - the recipe said Cointreau but we only had Blue Bols - the chicken was a lovely shade of blue green and I had to serve it to guests as there was nothing else in the house! - Tasted ok though!“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

I guess it depends on your situation.
I'm a supply teacher so hardly ever at work compared to my husband so think it's only fair that I do most of the food etc. I care what he thinks because I want him to be happy and enjoy the food he eats. When he's been at work all day and I've been at home, I like him to come home to some nice dinner and a clean, tidy house.
In contrast, the year before we got married, I was doing a PGCE and he used to come round to my flat and do virtually all the cooking and washing up. He even did my shopping too (well the supermarket was on the way over to my place so it saved a special trip). The fact that he did those things meant I was able to get all my PGCE work done and spend time with him.0 -
Hi Jen, welcome to OS, good luck to you in your new challenge. I started this in april but got sidetracked a little, but am definitely back for good, no more wasting money in future. Its much better to be organised with meal planners etc, and a great feeling that your giving your kids proper homecooked food,my two much prefer it to convenience food.
