Have managed to save upo a few pound to buy an LCD TV, am looking something around 32" that is HD ready, we only have normal sky and no Blue ray etc.... But intend to buy these along the way, this TV will be used in main living area of the house... Any tips etc would be apreciated...

  • Just bought ours a few weeks ago and very very happy :) tips are- look around! we very nearly bought one from currys (samsung) not full HD for £350, but had a look around and found a clearence one in richer sounds for £250, if you're going to be watching blu ray and HD TV on it I would reccommend getting a 1080p because anything less and you'll notice a bit of a difference. Also, don't buy own brands just because they're a bit cheaper, Samsung and LG are roughly the same prices but much better quality generally. For more expensive brands also try Sony and Sharp- supposed to be V. Good. Let me know if you need any more help :)
  • Didn't mention what we got for £250- Samsung 1080p 32" TV

Just to add that at the moment, no HD TV is broadcast in 1080p. Sky and Virgin HD broadcasts are 720p/1080i.

If you're not going above 32", you won't be able to notice the difference between 1080i and 1080p, so there's no real need for a Full HD TV, just an HD ready.

Or the better model for £299.99,for an extra 10% on either you can get 5 yrs warranty

Yeah to be fair we do use ours for the ps3- this is where the difference is really noticeable to us. :xmassmile
