My First "1 Debt 100 Days" Mini-Challange

I've been really bad at not posting on here over the past few months, and inevitably my motivation for debt clearing has run out of steam a bit!! I would love to be debt free in 2010, so have decided that I will tackle one thing at a time, and give myself 100 days to clear which ever debt I look at first. Hopefully I can do each in less than 100 days but will see how it goes.

So, my first "debt" is £1000 that my grandmother leant me towards the cost of my car last year. I need to get it paid back asap as I now have quite a reasonable amount of disposable income, and the deal was I would pay it back when I was in a better financial position.

100 days from today is Sunday 4th April so this will be my target for having this debt paid off. I have paid £50 so far, last month, and plan to sell on ebay, use Quidco, and any overtime from work will go towards it. My car (that I borrowed the money to help pay for) has been playing up recently so this may be a bit of a challange if I need money to pay for repairs etc, but I will pay it by ear.

Wish me luck, and any pointers or ideas would be gratefully received!

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Just wanted to pop back on today and update my small progress for today. I've found 2 old mobiles that I will sell via cashinmyfone and quidco - the cashback is £4.50 per transaction so will do it in 2 separate transactions so I can get £9 cashback, one phone is only worth £4.90 and the other £30 so in total that will be £43.90 that will go towards my challange. I'm not going to update any totals until I actually have the cash so I don't get ahead of myself tho.

I also have a tonne of stuff to ebay, but I think I'll wait until into the new year to list them as I don't think people will be ebaying much at the mo.

Hi Starnac, thanks for your reply, I will look out for the 1 Debt vs 100 Days challenge starting off, as I doubt I'll be too much further ahead with my first debt! I'm hoping to break down my debts and tackle one at a time as I tend to get too carried away with the bigger picture and bog myself down!

Is it just going to be on the Debt Free Wannabe forum?

No such thing as a day off!! I hadn't actually been on here for ages and decided while I was browsing the sales on Christmas Night that I would benefit more from coming on here, than spending on stuff I didn't need.

Mad, but hopefully debt free by the end of the year........
  • Have just received an email from Quidco to say I have a £40 payment being sent, so that will be paid off my first debt too! I wasn't expecting that so its a nice little boost for me!

    Little update to my progress:
