By the way - the £30 a week seems to include me doing all the cooking and most of the cleaning too. Think I need to have serious words.....
I am an awesome dish washer - not so keen on drying, but that's what draining boards are for... when can I move in?
I'll have to advise OH that I'm off though - will I need to get a new job or could I commute to Soton?0 -
Used to pay £200 a month but she blags inflation and all that! This covers all my food, leccy, gas. I pay for my own internet and all toiletries and that0

I work shifts so you would get a cuppa when I finish nights!
Seriously though, it is very awkward as I have moved into the family home and trying to sort out the finances. I don't want to start causing family arguments either.0 -
I used to give my mum £70 a week for housekeeping, which included everything (food, sky tv, broadband, own telephone line etc).0

Yes ....tread gently ....at first.
Set all the expenses out .. worth a few hours going into the minutiae. And don't forget to include the irregular items. Photocopy it 3 times. Then buy a red attache case ' a la Gordon Brown' (OK - that's optional) - and call a household budget meeting!
Always difficult to argue pure facts - and it should focus minds. Better than trying to have a discussion centred around theoretical spends? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
I used to pay my gran £50 a week and the internet (bless her she thinks computers are odd) and i bought my own toiletries and if i wanted any kind of "special" food for myself! All comments and advice given is my own opinion and does not represent the views or advice of any debt advice organisation.
