Don’t risk it, have heard of many cases where they "accidentally" take additional payments from cards ( allegedly)
Yes they do and they will accept any card not just one in the debtors name. They don't care where it comes from as long as they get the money. You could phone up with a card you found in the street.

Personally I have found Moorcroft one of the worst companies I have ever had the mispleasure to deal with. They have been totally incompetent. Even getting a solicitor on their case didn't help. We paid £80 once to a doorstep collector from Moorcroft. Even though we have the book signed etc, they still have no trace of the payment. They're a shambles. I would advise you NOT to use the doorstep collection. As someone else said, it's far more difficult to trace payments that way. Pay over the counter instead.

Most of my small catalogue debts have been removed from Moorcroft. I wondered if maybe the companies have got wise to their inept dealings.

Definitely use CCCS or Payplan, they're both free to use, non judgemental and have your interests as their main concern compared to a debt management company who are much more interested in taking money of you that you can't afford.

Good luck in getting it all sorted

As I am married does that mean that I am liable for my wifes debts even if they are in her name and accrued before we were married?

You will only be liable for debts which you have taken out in either you own name, or joint names. Any agreements made solely in your wifes name are hers alone.

If you ever got to the stage where bankruptcy was undertaken and you had joint assets then there would obviously be an impact, however in general your partners debts are theirs alone. ( on paper )

we have a joint loan from GE taken out last year through a conservatory/windows firm, its unsecured but classed as a home-improvement loan.

can we still make a repayment arrangement on the loan? im concerned that as its for improving the house GE may want to take some money from the mortgage. Can they do that or is it classed as an unsecured personal loan?

    >> Moorcroft are one of the "better" collections peeps,
    You're joking.
I had a problem with Sky who insisted I owed money when in fact I had overpaid. Moorcroft said that couldn't be the case as it would be illegal for Sky to pass the "debt" to them. They refused to put anything in writing. Said someone would visit - I tried to arrange a time but they said they would turn up unnanounced whenever they felt like it and I wouldn't know when. I asked for evidence of the debt which they refused. Kept sending letters saying I wasn't contacting them and said that it takes them about 3 months to process mail which is why no one had responded to my letters and why they weren't registered on my account - a lot of the phone calls weren't either.

There web site looks professional but they don't follow any of their own rules.

You will need to check the T&C's of the loan agreement, however it is more than likely that it is a standard unsecured personal loan.

The only time an unsecured debt can be reclaimed against your assets is either if a CCJ and subsequent charging order is issued, or bankruptcy proceedings are undertaken.
