Here are some questions to ask yourself before making any major purchase:-
Questions to ask before buying
1. How much is it?
2. Would I be prepared to pay cash for this item? (if you are putting it on a card).
3. How long did I have to work to earn this money?
4. How often will I use/wear it?
5. Am I buying for attention?
6. If I am broke how much will I be able to sell it for tomorrow? … in six months time?
7. What are ten other things I could buy with this money?
8. What are the consequences of not owning this item?
9. Do I already own something that could substitute this item?
10. Have I bought anything similar in the past and not used /worn it?
11. Would I spend my last £xx.xx on this item?
12. What are the running costs for this item? (applies if it has wheels)
13. How long have I wanted this item?
14. How much could I buy this item for second hand?
15. How much monthly interest will this item cost me?
16. If I pay the minimum amount off my cards for this item how long will it take to pay for it?
