I think that Alan doesn't seem to get it, perhaps he is not the brightest spark ;)[/QU

    Dear oh dear,

I try to open a reasoned debate about posters like myself and none of you seem to be able to see past the end of your nose.

It's clearly pointless trying to have a reasoned conversation with you as you're getting hung up on 3 posts of the over 2000 that I've made.

If MSE are offended by my actions your reports will be acted on...if they aren't offended they won't, now get over it.

How about actually answering the question I continually pose that you seem unable or unwilling to answer.

Would you prefer that I were open about who I am and what I do or would you prefer that I hid my identity and posed as a customer (which is the norm on this site)?

It's not hard people.....or maybe it is hard for you to get your head around...someone actually being open on a forum.

I certainly do not mind people being open on these forums Alan, in fact I commend it for the most part...we all know that constant and relentless self promotion goes on here but everyone plays innocent when you call them on it.

It is quite refreshing to find someone willing to stand up and tell people that this is what they do for their job, this is their business and they are experienced. Rather than come in, make about 20 posts or so then go around the forum spamming their company covertly.

You have nearly 2300 thanks to your name from nearly 1000 posts, a fine ratio and one I respect far more than post count, if you were a spammer then I am sure people would call you on it and by that I mean the ones who make the rules, the MSE staff.

I think that the forum rules need to be completely rewritten to reflect the changing nature of this board now. (If the rules could actually be found easily at the usual place you find rules rather than a tiny link down at the very bottom of the page)

All the big conglomerate companies constantly get mentioned and all the little ones are forgotten, and I know the answer I was given earlier...but how many people have realistically heard that "mom and pops" backstreet store is running a special on jammy dodgers and would actually mention it here?

At least if there was a merchant membership where your profession or business was displayed in your side profile after payment here the profits of that could go to charity...

Oh forget it, I would probably get banned for making a comment here :p

Thank you for actually responding to the subject, of course I'd thank you as it's supporting my position, but it's actually answering the question I've posed - so that's a start..

This thread has gone off at a tangent and a few posters are completely hell bent on some form of abuse logging record.

So, I've started a new thread here with a poll, feel free to contribute (all of you - but stick to the thread subject please and contain your abuse reporting to this thread please):-

I recently came across this book Click and I must say it was absolutely brilliant. I don't think he has any plans to write another one though unfortunately.

The Register has just done an expose(sorry can't find the accent on this computer) of the massive amount of fake reviews posted for iFlorist on the Trustpilot website.

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/03/29/iflorist_reviews/

In fact, having looked at reviews for other websites on Trustpilot, they appear to have a huge problem with this sort of thing. Like here for example:

    http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/www.chilloutgames.co.uk

I sometimes wonder whether some review sites are somewhat complicit in this obvious fakery because of their cosy relationship with website owners...

Agree. If you name and shame then you are just giving out more publicity. TBH, i think places like this weed those lone operatives out with sheer weight of honest reviews.

Maybe don't link to their websites but certainly name and shame, then hopefully anyone looking for info on them will see how dishonest they are.
