Hi! I haven't made it myself, but I looked it up in my trusty 'Home Preservation of Fruit and Vegetables' (HMSO 1989), and it suggests 1/2 oz ground Ginger and either 2oz Mixed Spice or 1/4 - 1/2 oz Curry powder. This is to go with 5lbs Rhubarb, 1lb Onions, 2lbs sugar, 1/2 oz salt and a pint and a half of vinegar. I find this book a pretty reliable source of information usually, hope this is helpful.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0

You've set me off now, I might try this recipe myself...
Our Rhubarb hasn't done too well this year though, it's gone very woody. Hubby saysthere hasn't been enough rain for it.

i planted my one two years ago....i left it last year... but this i had some stalks earlier on in the year... and now they are quite big...and look a bit coarse for pudding......so i thought i would chutney it......i should imagine it would be ok for that... so i will use your recipe.. but add some other bits like some cooking apples that i have here and some sultanas.. i thing you can put anything in a chutney.....why dont you have a look tomorrow and have a go....nothing ventured nothing gained....so to speak....Work to live= not live to work0
