HELP PSE - Magicolor 2400W compatible laser toners

I've just bought a Konica Minolta Magicolour 2400W mainly for the production of newsletters for a club that I belong to. Each quarterly issue is about 2000 pages. It's a great printer and the quality of print is fantastic but the replacement toner cartridge prices are astronomical.

I've been advised not to use compatibles but at the lower prices, they have to be considered.

May I ask:
Is there a real reason for being told not to use compatibles or is it just a ploy for the manufacturers to get continuing business?

Can anyone recommend a toner company where their products will not ruin the printer?

If it is a must to user genuine toners, anyone know of the least expensive place?
Many thanks
Paul
