Cheerz Toothsmith, couple of questions for you,do dentists do their own dental repairs on themselves or go to another dentist and why do dentists start asking questions when their hand and saliva sucker is in your mouth but dont utter a word to you when the work is finished.(smiles)

    1. Depends what it is. I would go to another dentist but I have heard of people doing their own fillings. God knows how!

    2. I don't.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

I occasionally give myself a polish but I pick the best dentist I went to Uni with and ask her to see me if I have a problem. I don't have many but a legacy of a childhood fight with my brother occasionally needs attention.

I do all my talking whilst the anaesthetic is getting to work and once the treatment is done. Never whilst the sucker is in there!

I am going to try to quit in the new year. I am well aware that the main cause of my dental problems is smoking.
