help - toffee sauce gone wrong!

Options
My DD has some friends round today to watch a DVD and I made some HM popcorn for them all and was going to put toffee sauce on like Butterkist - but I didn't know how to make the sauce stuff so I just melted some Thorntons toffee and it has gone grainy and yukky. I have just put some Splenda on the popcorn and the kids are fine with it but now I have quite a bit (about 250g toffee) of sauce which isn't the most appetising looking stuff. I really don't want to waste it so can anyone think of a pudding/cake/biscuits I could incorporate it into? I have flour, puff pastry (ready made - but only 49p in Aldi;)), bramley apples, bananas (but kids don't like these much), butter, eggs, sugar, dried fruit, nuts of all kinds, oats. I thought I might make a sort of toffee apple crumble but am not sure that the grainy texture of the melted toffee might make it a but wierd. Any suggestions?

only think I can think of is to slightly soften some vanilla icecream, swirl through the toffee mixture and refreeze
  • I would add some cream and gently heat in a bowl over a pan of hot water
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

  • Thanks for these replies! I actually added some bramley apples and cooked it again and it turned into toffee apple sauce, which they had on vanilla ice cream!
