Still trying to get the hang of my new SC, can anyone give me some advice about this recipe?
The main things are:
What temp? high, medium, low
How long? As the recipe suggests 2 1/2 hours on the hob I think it would need longer in the SC
Lastly, do I need to stir the mixture? I know that I am not normally meant to take the lid off.
Cheers

I'd chuck on medium and let it cook for as long as you like. It's not possible to over-cook it so you could probably cook it for days in the SC. Please don't forget to add caraway seeds for the proper authentic German flavour. Guten appetit!
ETA: you can give it a stir at the end just before serving if you like. Nothing bad can happen to this recipe, bar caramelising the sugar in the apples and that's not likely in a SC0 -
I gave mine about six hours on medium last year. Stirred it a couple of times during cookingTwins, twice the laughs, twice the fun, twice the mess!:j:j0

I feel better now! Gutted I don't have any caraway seeds in the house though.0

Eh, if you're not inviting any Germans round no-one will notice the lack of caraway seeds. Not got a slug of Kummel kicking around at the back of the drinks cupboard, have you?0

I've just made this very recipe in my SC this morning :-)
I cooked it on High for 5 hours.
(by the way, I found the layering all very nice and quaint but there's no point as you need to stir it 2/3 times during cooking anyway, so if you find that you don't have the time or the inclination, my advice is don't bother - just chuck it all in and mix it up, it's gonna turn out exactly the same!)0
