i have seen a lovely set on naturally thinking.com for £175 which sounds a lot but includes 40 oils and 5 base oils.
is it worth the spend out, i've wanted it for ages.
plus i could make my own cleaning stuff and toiletries etc.
does it work out cheaper making your own toiletries or not.

blimey you could buy a lot of toiletries for that!
suspect that you would probably only use a few of the oils for most things, unless you are a real aromatherapy enthusiast, and the rest would gather dust.0 -
to be honest, i think you'd be wasting money on something this extravagant. For all my cleaning, i've only ever needed to buy 2 different Essential Oils....lavender oil and tea tree.
I use a few drops of lavender together with the vinegar in the final rinse in the washing machine
And i use the tea tree oil when i make my own disinfecting sprays....i just put 1/4 vinegar to 3/4 water in a spray bottle, then add about 6 or 7 drops of tea tree oil
Personally, i can't really see what you'd need all the other oils for0 -
I'd save your money, unless you work as an aromatherapist or you are a masseur who uses oils.
Bear in mind, that oils do have a shelf life.
I've had a quick look at what you get for your money. Carrier oils on their own are actually very cheap-you're only taking a couple of quid, esp from places like cash and carry's and ebay.
I agree with the other poster who said you wont use them all.
Essential oils are not very expensive anyway and you should buy what you need. You would only use a few drops at a time. I have Lavender and Tea Tree and I bought them a few years ago and still have plenty left.
Rose is prob the most expensive oil but even then, its about 6/7 quid (again depending on where you buy from).
Other oils on average are about £3.Respond to every call that excites your spirit.0 -

I found out about these as the oils i buy from my local chemist stock these and the labels have the website on. When buying from the chemist you pay about double what the wholesale price is online but then you can buy as little as you like. Might be worth an order though if you want £50 or more worth as you can then get wholesale prices rather than retail and you pay about half.
I was tempted to order some inula oil myself as its rather expensive and then make the order to over £50 so it worked out cheaper.
Have you ever smelled pure jasmine oil? Its just out of this world!! You will not find that stocked in the chemists, Boots or anywhere, ive not found it. I went to a craft fair with my sister to the Birmingham NEC and there was a stall which had some on there, i asked if i could have a sniff. I also out of interest had to ask how much it was, now dont forget that the normal small bottles of oil are 10ml, well this was 2ml and it was £12.50
I started to walk away and turned to talk to my sister who then put a paper bag in my hand. I opened it and there it was my own bottle of jasmine. Shes a silly sort she is :A
Like someone mentioned though dont forget that oils have a limited shelf life. Some get better with age such as frankinsense i think is one. Citrus type oils i think you will find only last 6-12 months when opened.0 -
Marge is accurate. It depends on the supplier, some methods vary. But typically the leaves and twigs of the Melaleuca are steam distilled, and the Tea Tree essential oil is collected0
