I want to find out about https://www.countdowncard.com
Has anyone heard of them ???
My mum has had a letter sent to her with a countdown card inside and it says after your 30 free trial we will deduct £89.95 +1.60 p&p ???.
They have this £Saver emblem on the top of their letter, but we know nothing about them or it. ???.
This sounds abit dodgy to say the least any information will be helpful ???.
It says its registered office is at Plymbridge House,Estover Road,Plymouth,Devon. It also says that it has a P.O. Box 200.
adress at Stratford - Upon - Avon.
Can anyone help.

Several years ago we had a countdown card which offered discounts at many more outlets than it does now. It was also useful, if about to make a major purchase from an affiliated retailer, (eg Comet) to buy discounted vouchers in advance.
We normally easily recovered the annual cost of the card BUT, as price went up and number of outlets went down we cancelled. £89 does sound steep tho' - is that only for one year?
The other thing is that some employers, organisations etc offer it as a perk anyway. We can still purchase the same discounted vouchers if we have a mind to, by virtue of being members of ARP, so it's worth checking whether you already have access to the benefits, such as they are.
Have a look at http://www.countdowncard.com/
to see if it's worth it for your mum.0 -
Ditto what Klondyke says. I remember my mum had one about 10-15 years ago, and it entitled her to various discounts at local shops.
However although I can't remember how much it cost, it wasn't anywhere near £89. I'd have thought you'd have to spend an awful lot to get anywhere near your money back ???0 -
Does anyone have a list of their offers?
I have tried to have a look on their website but they don't say what offer they have.
I wound not buy one if I don't know what the offers are.0 -
As an independant retailer I am not convinced that this card is worth the £89 as stated. I have been offered the opportunity to have this card in my store but have declined as the discount is no more than I would give to a customer on request and can even go further. You do not need this card all you have to do is ask your retailer for his best offer.0

Thanks for the reply Greensmith.
Is there anyone out there who has a current Countdown card?
Would be great to hear from you too.0
