Career development loan,
Options
Hi,
Im 20, currently living in Swindon. I have been accepted onto a journalism course in Brighton working for a newspaper. The course is a 3month fast track course and is fully nctj certified. The course is £3600 and comes under eligibility for career development loans.
I have applied with Barclays...i sent my application over a month ago. Barclays state that it can take up to 3months to process. The course provider was fine with this and just wanted 20% fees which i could cover until the full loan came through.
I rang Barclays to track my application and they said they hadn't received it, they were also very rude and implied i hadn't sent it at all. i sought advice on what i could do but they just shrugged me off and said "nothing". There are no representatives in branch so theres no route of clear communication its all postal.
I tried getting a personal loan, but due to never borrowing money before therefore not having a credit rating. Also, having to leave my full time job to move i will only have a small part time income(and my partners which isnt considered).
I now only have less than a month to get a definitive answer on the loan as my course need it as proof so they can wait for payment. As it stands its likely i will lose my deposit and placement.
I have not left this to the last minute i sent it over a month ago, i thought this timing would be sufficient as i'd left my application in the "capable" hands of Barclays bank.
If anyone has any ideas/suggestions i would be very grateful.
Thank you.
Catherine

i did not, it had a prepaid envelope in the application pack, it did not cross my mind to send it recorded, (what a dummy i am), barclays have said it's too late to send another one because of the processing time, are you aware of any other company that have a quicker turn around time?
thanks0
