Mortgage Advisors

He,

We now have a reasonable deposit & are planning on buying our first property. We would like some help/advice with mortgages.

Is a mortgage advisor the same as an IFA? I have found some local IFA's websites on "Yell.com" but not specific whole of market mortgage advisors. Any help?

you should go to a whole of market mortgage advisor. we use an IFA for investments but wouldn't think of asking him about mortgages - different skill areas.

As silvercar rightly says IFAs tend to be more investment class business whereas whole of market mortgage advisers will tend to specialise in mortgage.

Can you ask friends for a recommendation?

I'll try asking around at work then I guess.

Most of our friends are at the same stage in life as us & haven't bought their own properties yet!

Either that or look in your local pages.

Where abouts in Swindon are you? My brother inlaw lives in Shaw just by the cinema complex.

    Cheers

A lot of IFAs will have a mortgage adviser in their office. It just wont necessarily be the IFA that does it.

Whilst everyone is different, I would expect a dedicated mortgage adviser to be a better choice than an IFA that may do a couple of mortgages every now and then.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

    Yes isn't it.

Abbey Meads and Haydon Wick are really nice. The good thing about Swindon is that, relatively speaking, you usually get a good sized property for your money.
