Sainsbury bread flour has a recipe on the side of the packet for 1.5lb basic white bread.

    12 fl oz warm water
    1 oz butter
    1 1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 tablespoon sugar
20 oz (500g) strong bread flour
    1 teaspoon dried yeast

I've started using this recipe and have a MR and put them in the machine in that order, it makes a lovely loaf of bread - just right for us.

I use the Panasonic 244 and top the liquid measurer to the topmost mark three times with flour, - thus saving the need for weighing it out -
then add two teaspoons of sugar and one and a half tspoon of salt, plus two tablespoons of oil before adding the water.
  • I have to admit, I prefer weighing the flour to scooping it out with the measuring cup, I find can get it more accurate that way.
