Have you given your credit card details to the hotel? As kind as your offer is, you could make yourself liable for any problems if the receiver of your kind gift is not so considerate.

I've called the hotel and they can change the name for me, so I take it that would give up all my liability... hoping so!
but thanks for the heads up! x

A lovely gesture.
Peebles is beautiful so whoever makes it will have a great time.0 -
I live in Peebles, generous offer but the kids won't thank me us for disappearing for the night.
The conditions round here are absolutely OK at the moment. I go to Edinburgh everyday and theres no problems. Are you sure you can't make it?0 -
It's more the conditions where I am unfortunately, they are atrocious! (sp??) I wouldn't be coming from Edinburgh, and the route from where I am is a lot of single track roads if I remember correctly

hi honey has anybody taken you up on the offer? i would love to go if its still free, i live in dumfries, i have severe pain due to medical problems and the thought of a jaccuzzi bath would be wonderful. the night away would be like winning the lottery for me, i am awaiting test results for some pretty harrowing conditions, so would be lovely to escape. money is tight this time of year, so no treats for me, i am a nurse and am used to looking after others, would love to have some me time. don't worry if its too late. whats to be will be xlost 9 stone since Feb 2011

I'm not far from Peebles either but don't want to risk being snowed in as the weather forecast isn't great for the south of Scotland tonight.
Could you ask them to change it to another night due to the weather conditions? Surely it would make sense as you would be buying food/drink etc which would be more profit for them rather than you just paying for an empty room?0 -
Can't you cancel most hotel rooms until the day of arrival without being charged? Maybe you could also clarify if you want paying for the room as some people are asssuming it's a gift to them.0
