We bought a core for our nephew when it came out but it cost us a lot to get it ready for xbox live. You will also need a hardrive to go live- just a warning so people dont get caught out like us. You also only get a wired controller while you get a wireless one with the premium pack.
Good offer as long as you are aware of what the core system limitations are.0 -

Your giving people slightly vague incorrect information there, you DON'T need a hard drive to use xbox live.
With the core you get the silver subscription as standard, plus a 1 month trial of the gold service. After the free month expires you can use a 12 month code from the various 'xbox live starter kits+game' for the original xbox1.
THESE keep coming back in stock regular and are ideal for topping up your live account for 12 months - plus you get a headset which works with the xbox360 (although you lose volume control+mute functions)
If you have a valid gold subscription then any xbox360 live game will work online without a hard drive - i.e pop in Call Of Duty 2 and your away.
If you want to play compatible xbox1 games on the xbox360 then yes you do need a hard drive for that.
If you want to download and play the 'xbox live arcade' style games (zuma/crystal quest/bankshot billiards etc) then a memory card or hard drive will be needed.
HTH
Cheers

This is not thye time for arguments I was trying to point out that YOU do need a hard drive in order to play live as several of my friends experienced. The game is unable to save without a hard drive and although the core comes with a silver membership so do all xbox live games- it does not mean that you can play live because you have the subscription. In order to join in with others and save your progress you need a hard drive or at memorary card. If you read the reviews of this on Amazon or type " problems with xbox core " into google you will see what I mean.
I dont want people to be caught out like we were and we had one very unhappy nephew who was unable to join us live and unable to save his game progree over christmass.
The price is good if it suits peoples needs but there is nothing wrong with getting information on the product you are purchasing.0 -
