I go to the haberdashery shop near uni, and pick up some little things to sew on (I've got stars to sew on my skirt for the summer) and always get some little bits for a few quid** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **

I do it all because I'm scared.

Use any/all of these ideas:
Add a belt, even if said belt is a length of ribbon.
Change your hairstyle, eg wear it down if you had it up last time you wore the dress.
Do something different with makeup.
Make/buy a corsage. I got a corsage for 50p in the sale at Topshop once.
Jewellery; can be bought very cheaply, and some shops like New Look, Topshop and Dorothy Perkins offer BOGOFs on sale goods at times.0 -
Last night my twin unexpectedly took me to a party in town so this is what I came up with:
long matt black leggings from topshop (much warmer than tights and that turned out to be important!)
a vintage 3/4 sleeve tunic dress/top which is sheer black with a glittery velour rose pattern over it - this was a charity shop purchase (£3!) originally a dress as it had plain black pleated skirt attached to the bottom - I undid the seam joining these so I could wear the top seperately but I may just make a proper waistband so that I can wear the skirt for a school uniform outfit!
lovely comfortable patent black peep toe heels from New Look which have a silver zip sewn on the front of each shoe - despite being plastic these are the most comfortable shoes I've found and are the most versatile - here they helped to make the vintage top more modern.
to top it off a black bowler hat from Ebay
love this and got loads of compliments for it, including several guys wanting to try it on!
I have very curly mid length brown hair and I wore it down with the hat on top for a cirque-esque look.0 -
I have tons of scarves and use them for jazzing up outfits for work or if i wear black they add colour.
My mum also bought me a batwing cardigan that was v.expensive and so far it has done me a baby shower, 2 Xmas parties and NYE and i've only had the top 7 weeks. I wear it with different black trousers and team it with one of the any vest tops i have and a matching handbag.
I love swapping bags to jazzy up an outfit, have some fab pink and silver bags0
