Children's savings - do they affect benefits?

I want to start a savings account for my 4yr old son, do these kind of savings accounts affect housing benefit/council tax benefit/tax credits?
I know household income/savings affect it - does that include a child's account?
If it does I find that quite unfair as the savings aren't going to be for me to dip into and use, it is intended for my son when he turns 18.
Thanks.

If you save money in the Child Trust Fund it has no effect on benefits.0
