Emergency!My car won't start

Hi Fellow Money Saving Expert's

I have a VW GOlf MK3 1995 1.4L 3 door hatchback, the problem I have is starting the engine. I put my key into the ingnition and try starting the car. Unfortunately the engine won't start, the engine just stutters. What shall I do? Is it worth repairing the car? Can it even be repaired?(And no I have not driven my car into deep waters!) PLEASE HELP.......

When you say "stutters" do you mean the starter motor turns slowly but the engine won't fire? (possible flat battery, alternator not charging battery, timing belt slipped etc).. or do you mean its almost firing but not quite getting there (blocked fuel line, empty tank, dirty fuel filter, blocked air inlet, corroded/broken HT leads/coil etc )

And then when you ask is it worth repairing?.. no throw it away and buy a million pound Ferrari... or answer B, it depends on you, can you afford a new car, do you want another car, do you need a car etc etc etc
