Myself and my partner are thinking of going up to maybe Kirkwall on Jan. A change from here. Plus I want to go up and see with the view of moving up there. Does anybody know of any cheap flights etc from Glasgow? We were going to get bus as get free travel in Scotland. Then ferry. However would be quicker by plane .

The Cheapest way is the boat. I personally prefer the Scrabster - Stromness ferry. You could always go to Aberdeen and take the overnight ferry. Flying can be quite expensive.

You do need a car when your Here so either bring one or there are some good companies on island that can meet you at Airport or Ferry.

By the way not much Snow here at the moment but the wind is bitter
