MrGreen here with an update, sorry I've not be posting for a while, I've thankfully have had extra shifts at work to do and have been able to pay off quite a bit over the last year from the extra money earned and also the more disciplined budget I've been keeping since starting this challenge.

    Left to pay £12,491.75

    Paid to date - £10,753.98 :D

    Hi Everyone,

Well done Kiwisaver! Like Skaps, I might have earmarked some of the money to go elsewhere so good for you. :j

I have made a meagre payment this month of £45.59. My total paid is now £7550.08 which I think is still around 42%.

    Thanks Dragon

No, the extra £15,000 went off other debt, which I hadn't included into the orginal £20,000. Because £20,000 was hard enough to clear in two and half years. I still have a loan which has an outstanding balance of £18,500 to pay. But the way that loan is set up i only have to pay once a year which i have done this year payment.

My DH got a lump sum from his employer from taking redunancy. Every cloud has a sliver lining.

  • An update from me...

I've paid a total off now of £6,831.54, so I'm very nearly there. My August payday (19th) will be my final payment and I can't wait!!!

However, I'll not be counting myself as completely debt free as I still have a student loan which is being paid off. Really not sure whether to make extra payments to it or not. At the rate it's being paid off now, I'll be in my 40's before it's gone, and I'm only 31 now

Has anyone else been in the same situation?
