Hi all,
I have recently been trying to aquire a short term loan to see me through the christmas period. I was recently made redundant and I was unemployed for a few months in that time I fell behind on quite a lot of repayments that had not been a problem until I wasnt in work anymore. Its pretty bad and it would appear it has destroyed my credit rating.
I am 21 and earning just shy of 30k a year in my new job which is completely stable. The problem is that I have just moved from contract to perm and all of my contract wages (weekly) have had to go on the backlog of repayments (it hardly made a dent) My next paycheck is end of january and I currently dont even have cash for petrol after next week.
To sort out the urgent debts (the others can wait until I can afford the repayments again in january) and see me through I am going to need around 2k. Is there anywhere that will lend to me ? ?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Do you really need £2K to last you a month? You would probably be better to post on the Debtfree Wanabee board, to look at alternative ways of managing your debt.Gone ... or have I?0

£100 quid a week petrol and food for 6 weeks, back payment of car insurance so that I can get to work £600 otherwise they are going to cancel it. And the rest is owed to family member with a little to spare for christmas. I have allways been in easily manageable debt but being out of work really screwed me over. Its just what I need to see me through until I am earning again.0

I have just moved to a cheaper place paying 350 a month all in. but some of the bills and rent are behind from the last place. I had to clear most of it with my contract wage. Once I am earning again these can easily be payed off in a couple of months and Ill be stable again. I dont think I will ever mess with credit again either.0

My mum used to be a councellor she knows debt inside out. I used to be in a lot more than I am now but my salary went up and with my mums help the repayments went down. Now I'm almost set but the redundancy really screwed me at my age you dont get very much. I need to pay off the immediates until I get my salary through and then after a month I can up my repayments and get it all cleared.
This is hopefully the end of debt for me.0 -
I can't see any good options but to ask mum for help.

advance on wages?
This would be my preferred suggestion.
Your Company should realise that there is a potential difficulty associated with going from weekly to monthly pay - can you have a word with your personnel manager? He/she should see your problem and could take steps to 'phase in' the transition.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Its not company policy, I have enquired about it but its not looking good to be honest, sorry about the late reply. I have been fairly busy over the christmas period. At the moment I am really stuck and at my age it seems impossible to get a loan. To be honest if it will see me through my current situation and has repayments of less than 250 a month I will take it.
I have just had another nightmare added to the bargain as well. My laptop has just died (motherboard is ruined) and I need it to work on (I work in IT) so this is now an added strain on my already stringent funds.0
