Why not just go to collect it and then ask for a refund straight away saying u have changed your mind about the item as really you wanted the S&G item. It says on the website you can return items instore from the website if u have the invoice. That way you dont risk it being lost in transit through the company!

I know, I just like to avoid any fuss as you never know the knowledge level (or lack thereof!) of the SA you'd get. I can just see the blank stare when they ring it up for a refund and the invoice says twice the price that's on the till, and then they have to go get a supervisor to explain what to do <sigh>. I know some SAs would know what to do immediately, but you would be amazed at the blank, confused look as the SA kept looking from till to receipt when I did this last year (not at Christmas sales, just an item that got reduced) and I had to explain to the SA why the receipt and till price didn't match and that I was due the price on the receipt -- and this was from a regular employee, not new help still in training! I was thinking that Boots sending it back itself meant it was more likely not to get lost in Warehouse Hell, but you may be right, we can't count on organization and efficiency, lol.

I actually have two small items that probably will still be there tomorrow. I may rebuy and return the ones I have, but I don't know. It would mean a few quid back, but not sure it's worth the bother. That's why I was thinking of just letting the darn package go back on it's own and then not bother returning the other small item.

I have just come back from my boots as I am working tomorrow, but it does seem they are stocking the shelves up well. However i bought the boots glitter babes toiletry bags with bits and pieces in, originally £10 down to £1.50!!! Thats better than 75% so i bought 3. Great nieces now done. Also bought 2 sets of Ted Baker down from £5 to £2.50. I am well pleased with that and have now done all hubbys side of family for xmas.:j

That is one of the crazy things about Boots, that while it makes no sense to hold stock back until it gets further reduced, there are always reports of shelves being stocked just before the sale and managers saying they held stuff back for further reductions. Some of them haven't quite figured out that it's a good thing for the store to sell more of it at higher prices, lol.

Unfortunately, not all stores will restock and I'm sure it will be a bit of a misery to some who'll read about the bursting shelves others find, while their own were bare.

I ordered for the first time off the internet two weeks ago and went in last week on the day it said in the email. However the whoman explained that they dont get deliveries every day like larger stores so it wasnt in yet and suggested to call up before I go in again to check its there. However the next day I recieved a text to say it was instore. I then order the hat box too and I recieved a text today (same store) to say it is in which is a couple of days earlier than expected.

Did you put your mobile down for text updates? If you did then have you been text?

or maybe just give them a call would be the best bet. The store I went to seemed to have a book with a sticker for each order that had come in and you sign for it next to the sticker when it comes in.

If the managers are holding it back they definately need their position readdressing hahaha

In the company I work for lots of things happen to mean that sale stock is put out just before further reductions:
-We forget there is some in the stock room!
-We only have a certain amount of space for the sale so if it wont fit it wont fit
-If our sale is selling well sale from another store is tranferred in so we can shift it.
-If our sale is selling slowly it is transfered out to another store!

So if Boots do similar it may also explain why some stores have hardly anything left.

Fingers crossed everyone get a good selection at their stores

I know the exact look you mean hahaha

I just returned somthing to boots actually and luckily I got a competant SA! If you are going in store anyway just get it done there and then, that way you know its done and sorted. If you let them send it back you might end up spending a while wondering where your money is. Or maybe give the store a call and ask what will happen if you dont collect the item as you have changed your mind. Their response might help you decide what to do!
  • well just went and did a reiki (sp?) of two of the stores I was planning on going to tomorrow and very glad I did! The one I was going to hit at 8am didnt have much left compared to last week and quite a few things were battered. There was nothing I wanted except one thing which the second store I am going ot hit (at 9am) had too so theres no point me going to the first. Which means an extra hour in bed for me woohoo!

    Hi ladymac
When your order is received by the store they scan the barcode on the parcel. This triggers an e mail (and also a text message if you have put your mobile number in your Boots details) to you. The store will usually phone you too if you put a landline number in.

It is recci I think. I have just been on a recci myself to the small store where I live and they have more and different stuff than last week. I am going to a bigger store but my sis is going to do the small store for me. They have a lot of Totes slippers and Sanctuary miniature perfumes aswell as lots of the scents of occasion and lots of chocolates. Happy shopping
