Hi

Has anyone seen any good offers on fresh free range turkeys please for christmas dinner? I'm looking for one which will feed 3/4 people. It's my first year doing the meal on christmas day.....

Thanks

  • I would get down to tesco if your looking for a free Range bird (I am glad I didn't go to the farm shop this year).. just picked mine up for £25 to feed the 5 of us and the cat (FR turkey crown) and they are british ones as well. (I had a voucher so made it cheaper for moi ;) )

I have looked at tesco's site and can't find any turkeys..... Is it just me or have they run out or something....

Also, anyone know the difference between frozen and frsh? Apart from the obvious ;) Is the quality of frozen compromised? It seems much cheaper to buy a frozen free range taste the difference turkey at sainsbury's than their normal fresh ones.....

I got one of those TTD turkeys , and they have had very good ratings in the tasting reviews.
I wanted to get mine frozen , just incase i couldnt get one ,
in any case , its how you cook the turkey that determines its flavour and how good you are at keeping it moist .
im doing the jamie oliver method this year .

Just picked up a free range fresh turkey from Sainsburys for about £21. It serves 5 so just the right size. Thanks to all replies

We have all the main supermarkets and have just compared prices for a fresh free range bird. The most important figure is the price per kilo. The cheapest is Tesco at £5.80 per kilo.

ASDA, Sainsbury, Morrisons and M & S next all at £6.80 ish per kilo. Waitrose was a bit more again.

Have to be careful when comparing because you can get free range organic birds that are more again. Also a free range bronze bird is more expensive.

Go for a turkey crown, much better value.

Have to say there are only 3 of us this year (Mr K is away this year) so we go for a turkey crown from M&S - really good value and no waste at the end.
