I do not think they will ring your work and tell everyoneHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I know they won't tell everyone - but things get around, especially if someone different answers the main phone at work.0

Maybe it's simply another point of contact for you if you stop making payments and don't answer your home/mobile phone.0

What's all this about? Apples 2 reply seemed perfectly reasonable to me.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -
they may call and say 'does so and so work for x company?' - they can't say/ask anything more. This is to clarify the information on the loan application.
It also means that if the account gets into arrears and collections are involved they have a definite point of contact."Stay Wonky":D

i work for a credit company and they do phone the employers to make sure the employment details given are correct... otherwise people could just say they are employed at 'X' on the application when in actual fact they are unemplyed etc0

Hi, I need a loan, was looking at Zopa - but it asks for work contact info - but do they contact work? I don't really want everyone at work knowing I need a loan.
News shouldn't get around work and in any case there's nothing wrong with wanting a loan. Nobody at work has any reason to know the difference between wanting and needing a loan, for example.
If it does happen to become known more widely at work, it's the deposit for your yacht. Nobody else's business what it's really for.
Declaration of interest: I've both loans via Zopa and lend via Zopa. There's minimal chance of me actually lending there at the moment due to the large amount of money available.0 -

Wouldn't normally comment on something like this, but....pot calling kettle black springs to mind here. Apples2 was answering the question the OP asked in a perfectly nice manner, how about you read the reply properly before making things personal.0
