Are you sending or receiving? As far as I know POs can be cashed instantly at a post office but will probably take at least 3 days to show up in sender's bank account (maybe more if cashed just before Christmas hols)Life's a box of beads - rainbow coloured and full of surprises!:D0

Hi.....My DP is the one sending it, to his ex for CSA payment she has requested early......We have been advised to give it to her by way of a crossed postal order so that we have a paper trail....I know it sounds childish, but she has before said she got no money and DP had to pay twice:(
Please note anyone reading this****DP pays by DD every month**** his ex got her payment on the 12th of this month and has said the kids need coats and could she have the money (well text said cash!) early!
Personally I dont care as she chose CSA but DP thinks the EX will make life very hard for him with access over xmas.........resulting in him not seeing his youngest son (14) his eldest basically lives here!!Baby no 5 due 10th Feb 2010Not very MSE:money:still dont know how it happened

if its crossed it has to go through a bank account like a cheque , depending on the bank it would take between 3-5 working days , mines take 5 days
a uncrossed one can be cashed straight away at the post office
hope this helps0 -

If he can give her the cash in person, write out a letter like;NAME/DATE/TIME
Following your text message to my mobile (number) requesting early cash payment of child benifit, I hearby grant your request in the amount of £________in respect of payment due for the period ___/___/___.
signed;_________
date,___/____/___
witnessed by,______________
signed,__________
I,_______________,hereby aknowledge reciept of requested cash amount of £___________ as requested.
Signed_________
Date___/____/____

or if you have to use a postal order, then dont forget to send it recorded delivery & get a proof of posting from the PO counter.0 -
Thank you spike:D
We have been told in no uncertain terms not to give her cash.......there is a thread about it on child support in these forums, even legal advice has said no cash!! Hence the talk of postal order!Baby no 5 due 10th Feb 2010Not very MSE:money:still dont know how it happened

If you had bank details then you could just make an instant payment through online banking?
It's all properly recorded & you can even add something like 'CSA additional' etc in the payment reference so it's clearer to all what the payment is.
Could be there in a matter of hours that way. Of course, the stumbling block is whether or not you have, or can get the bank details (although if you pay by DD, then you may have this). When sending for the first time I usually just send a pound or something, so I can get them to confirm they received it and confirm the amount, before sending the rest.0 -
No DP pays by DD to CSA....we dont have his EXs bank account details.
a crossed postal order seems to be the only way forward....
Sigh......its gonna be an awful xmas!Baby no 5 due 10th Feb 2010Not very MSE:money:still dont know how it happened
