Magic Morning by Monsters at Work
http://www.7digital.com/artists/various-artists/lo-and-loaf-presents-sounds-in-search-of-ears/01?addtobasket=true
Paul Daniels does not have normal mornings. He spices them up with a trick: taking a seemingly normal bowl of Coco Pops, he pours in some milk and with a wave of his magic wand he turns the milk chocolaty and delicious. How does he do it? He cannot say.
Monsters at Work have Magic Mornings too. It sounds like they spend them playing ukulele on a cosmic monster island, without a Debbie McGee in sight. You’ll like this free download… not a lot, but you’ll like it.
The Other Side (feat. Little Dee) By DJ MK Presents... Skandal
http://www.7digital.com/artists/dj-mk-presents-skandal/hunger-pains/09?addtobasket=true
Splitting rapping duties down the middle, South Londoner Skandal and Wiley prot!g! Little Dee appear on a taut grime track produced by Kiss FM’s very own DJ MK. With the sort of sharp, bitter wordplay Eminem used before he started dissing celebrities, ‘The Other Side’ is an account of rising above an argument by writing lyrics. A refreshing approach to rap and a freebie this week.
Bells Of Harlem By Dave Rawlings Machine
http://www.7digital.com/artists/dave-rawlings-machine/a-friend-of-a-friend/09?addtobasket=true
Having spent the best part of the decade collaborating with artists such as Bright Eyes and Ryan Adams, Dave Rawlings finally releases his debut solo album A Friend Of A Friend. The last track on the set, the soothing ‘Bells Of Harlem’, has Bright Eyes returing the favour and long-time cohort Gillian Welch on backing vocals. With an alluring ending of swooning strings, the track has a lullaby quality and it’s completely free this week.
The Ever True by Hope & State
http://www.7digital.com/artists/hope-and-state/grand-gestures-ep/03?addtobasket=true
You know when you’re watching a slushy American teen drama on a hungover Sunday and everything gets all optimistic - like someone wins a skateboarding competition or the supposed geeky teenager (played by a male model with cheekbones so sharp they could sculpt swans out of ice) kisses the cheerleader – Hope & State would soundtrack this moment. The Ever True is that kind of punch the air punk-pop that makes everything in life seem that little bit better, bit like a free download really.
Ceremony (Joy Division cover) By Pascal Babare
http://www.7digital.com/artists/pascal-babare/thunderclap-spring/04?addtobasket=true
The meandering ‘Ceremony’ (yes, a Joy Division/New Order cover) builds from a calm intro before a rollicking rhythm bursts in on the village fete beginnings of the track and transports you to the indie club. Take a free ride, download it now.
