Cashed in endowment in 2003

Because I had cashed in my endowment in 2003, does this mean I am not entitled to claim anything? We sold it as we were getting divorced and I was buying a house with a repayment mortgage, so didn't need the endowment. It was falling way short of the promises made too. I don't have any details now - all I know is it was sold with my then Halifax mortgage in 1989 with the promise that it would pay off the capital plus give us about £20,000 back. I ran it for almost 15 yrs and got just over £5,000 for it.
If I am entitled to anything, how do I find out who it was with, as I can't remember anything - although the cheque was paid into my Halifax bank account when I received it.
Thanks

You can claim, though compensation would only run up to the date you surrendered it.

You have to claim to whoever sold it to you. This might be the Halifax, or it might be the policy provider.Contact the policy provider to find out.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)
