Help please cv

Hi Everyone,
Can someone PLEASE Help me? I have been out of work ten years looking after my disabled dad, he sadly died recently and I have decided to return to work but can't get an interview! I am starting to wonder if it is my CV? I was a customer service manager before I looked after my dad and never really out of work, I definatly have never had to write a CV and I think mine stinks! Could someone who knows please look at it and tell me where I am going wrong? I am going mad sitting at home doing nothing and would be very grateful for any help
Merry Christmas

While you're waiting for specific help, I suggest you Google "skills based CVs"; these are a better option than a traditional chronological CV and much more appropriate for someone who has been out of the workplace for some time. You can then tailor the skills for the various jobs you apply for.

The days of having one chronological CV that you send out for every application are long gone.

    Good luck.

Thats a great suggestion from Oldernotwiser. A skills based CV will make a far greater point of the abilities you do have rather than a long 10 year gap. It will lead the employer to read far more into 'you' than simply seeing that you have not worked for 10 years.

From my experience most companies want to know the reasons you were out of work and then how you supported yourself.

Also, what level of job are you applying for? I would guess that the basic customer service skillset hasn't changed too much in the last 10 years but maybe methods/training courses have taken a leap forward. Maybe look at moving down a notch to get back to work and then, once refreshed, make the leap back up the ladder.
