    You pay

secured debt, housing , CT, utilties and food then worry about the rest, not the other way round.

Also, do you really really need 2 mobile Phones?
  • To go from 250 pounds a month to 100 in one go would be difficult - have you tried the MoneySavingOldstyle boards for reducing your food bill? they normally suggest reducing it bit by bit. Have you tried batch cooking/cooking from scratch/buying value/basic items/ shopping in lidl/aldi/using leftovers creatively etc?
Is there anything you can do from home to make money? can you take in ironing or do home typing or make and sell stuff? web design? dog walking (not sure on this with the little one though? cake decorating? well anything you can do at home really.
Have you tried selling any old bits and bobs from around the houze on ebay or at car boots? Note if buying to sell on you need to register with the taxman but I believe you can sell any bits and bobs you already own.
Have a look on the up your income board for inspiration.

If any of the above is not doable then maybe you need to consider a dmp -o.k it will ruin your credit rating but at the end of the day your health is more important and it would give you a chance to repay the debts rather than just the minimums and you may be able to get creditors to not add interest for a while.

What are all the different payments going to Virgin? £100 £69 and £25.
Also do you really need 2 mobile phones... both on expensive contracts?
  • thanks so much for your help. I had to give up my evening job as it was until 2 & im so tired with this pregnancy it was making me ill.

Have ebayed everything we own but have been looking at carboots for bargains etc. I def could get rid on my phone contract. I know it souds silly but i really dont want to do a dmp as im worried they wont leave us enough to live on but then again i havent really looked in to it.

I am all up for getting myself out of this mess its just hard because of the situation we are in & not being able to work!

I have tried so so hard to find a job but would be up for doing something from home x

Definately do the SOA it prompts for things you've not mentioned but important to consider (hair cuts to water and broadband).

Well done you for having your lightbulb moment. Its a bit hard step but you obviously want to regain your control and probably some sanity.

An observation your mobile phone (vodafone and o2) bills look high, are there better tariffs available. I was on o2 at about £25pm and realised I could move onto simplicity for a better deal at £15! Its worth checking out as you never know.

Gas & Electric looks high, perhaps again there is a better tarrif for you?

Take a look on the APR% your paying for each credit card, investigate 0% deals and see if it would be worth you moving the debt around. Egg I'm sure used to offer a 0% balance transfer deal on your anniversary but I'm not with them any more.

    Good Luck.
  • Virgin = 2 Credit cards 1 in my name 1 in Andrews & a phone, tv & internet package totaling £25. The internet is a priority for Andrews work x

  • Hi, I'm not on a DMP so can't comment very much, but from what others have said on here, its definitely worth calling CCCS just to see what they say. Better that than struggling on each month using credit for essentials. And by calling you're not signing up for anything.
Good luck, I understand the stress but you'll find a plan one way or another.
