The law has recently changed and credit unions can charge more - it used to be 12.68% per annum - I'll check this, although don't forget they only charge on the outstanding balance which means they are still pretty comptetive even compared to mainstream lenders, and loads better than Provvy and the like. And don't forget to factor in - no set up fees, no late payment charges, no statement charges, no penalties for early settlement. When I added all this in they were a cheaper option than my local (now discarded!!) bank. And I know that the money is used locally, not to line the pockets of shareholders I have never met. And they didn't try to flog me some useless "loan protection" insurance either!
